Dr. W.H. Secord Called by Death – Was on Surgical Staff of the Winnipeg General Hospital
The death occurred in Winnipeg on Wednesday, May 13, of Dr. W. Herbert Secord, second son of the late Dr. Levi Secord and Mrs. Secord of this City. Dr. Secord received his early education at the public schools and Collegiate of Brantford, then studied medicine at McGill University, graduating in 1903, after which he practiced in Winnipeg.
In 1915 he went overseas with the 11th Field Ambulance Corps and was awarded the Military Cross for bravery under fire at Passchendaele. After the war he returned to Winnipeg to resume his practice and was appointed to the surgical staff of the Winnipeg General Hospital and the University of Manitoba. He is survived by his widow, formerly Gertrude Campbell and one son, Campbell, recently appointed to the staff of the University of London, England. Dr. E.R. Secord of this city and Arthur O. Secord of Detroit are brothers.
The funeral service will be at his late residence, 265 Kingsway, on Friday, May 15, with interment in Saint John’s Anglican Church Yard, Winnipeg.
