Donations - Your Support Is Critical

Brantford MaquetteThe Great War Centenary Association - Brantford, Brant County and Six Nations is a registered charity that serves to commemorate those who enlisted from our area during the First World War.  As a strictly volunteer group, the GWCA relies heavily on donations from individuals and businesses.

All donations received go towards keeping our website, educational programming current and relevant and free of charge so that we can continue to increase the public's awareness of the service and sacrifice of our community's involvement during the First World War.

To help us continue our work we are offering for a donation of $20.00 a representation of the original maquette designed by Walter S. Allward in 1927 for the Brant County War Memorial.

Allward envisioned two sculptures; a single figure "gazing aloft with the mute appeal that this may be the end of wars," and a group who "express reverence and sorrow, as they proudly remember their dead throughout the ages."

Dedicated in 1933; the memorial commemorated the men and women from Brantford, Brant County and Six Nations killed during the First World War. Today the monument also includes those who died in the Second World War, Korea and Afghanistan.
