Cause and Place of Death: Killed in Action

BX January 8, 1917

Young Chorister Reported Killed – Signaller John William Sole, with 84th Killed in Action

It was only a week ago that The Expositor published a letter from the front written by Pte. Jack Sole of this city and today he is reported killed in action. Private Sole was a member of the signal section of the old 84th Battalion and was with Pte. Alex Bell when he was recently killed.

Private Soles’ parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Soles, formerly lived on Terrace Hill, but recently moved to England. He will be well remembered in the city as a solo boy at St. James’ and Grace Church, when eight years of age he was a soloist with the choir in the Worcester Cathedral.
