John A. Patterson

John Alexander Patterson, 16 Bruce Street, died Sunday at St. Joseph’s Hospital in his 69th year.  Born at Paris, Ontario, he was the son of John M. and Luella Eaton Patterson.  He lived in Paris until coming to Brantford 15 years ago.  He was an adherent of the Presbyterian Church.  During the First World War, Mr. Patterson served with the 125th Battalion from 1915-1918 and was a member of the Telephone City Branch No. 90 Royal Canadian Legion.  Prior to his retirement eight years ago, he was employed at the Ryerson fruit and grocery store on Market Street.  Mr. Patterson was a well-known horseman and was noted for his showing of Hackney ponies.  Surviving besides his widow, the former Isabelle Cameron, are two sons, John C., Brantford, and Gordon I. Patterson, Toronto.  One brother, Allan Patterson, Paris and five sisters, Mrs. Evelyn (Nell) Whitby, Woodstock; Mrs. Georgina McLeigh, Paris; Mrs. Thomas (Genevieve) Martin, Paris; Mrs. Laurie (Irene) amble, Toronto and Mrs. Earl (Olive) Ward, Grimsby.  Mr. Patterson is resting at Thorpe Brothers’ Funeral Home, where service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m.  Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

John A. Patterson

The funeral of John Alexander Patterson, husband of Mrs. Isabelle Cameron Patterson, 16 Bruce Street, was conducted Wednesday afternoon at Thorpe Brothers’ Funeral Home.  A large number of friends and relatives attended from Brantford and Paris.  Rev. Dr. G. Deane Johnston of Central Presbyterian Church officiated.  The pallbearers were Wilfred Bissett, Lloyd McGraw, Robert Connell, Bert Rand, Robert Ireland and Lee Brown.  Interment was in Mount Hope Cemetery.
