BX September 18, 1918

Mrs. John Longbottom, 75 Campbell Street, has received word that her son, Private John Henry Longbottom, who left here with the 84th Battalion, has been wounded in action. Pte. Longbottom has been admitted to hospital at Canterbury, suffering from gunshot wounds in the legs. He served for several months with the 75th Battalion in France.

John Henry Longbottom

John H. Longbottom of 75 Balfour Street died Monday in the Brantford General Hospital in his 74th year.  He was born in Brantford, son of the late John and Elizabeth Longbottom, and was a resident here all his life.  He was a veteran of the First World War with overseas service.  He was a member of the Telephone City Branch 90 of the Canadian Legion.  Surviving are four sisters, Mrs. William (Margaret) Prowse, Mrs. Clarence (Ethel) Crawly, both of Brantford.  Miss Gertrude of Toronto and Mrs. Cooper (Nellie) Robinson of Hamilton; also several nieces and nephews.  Mr. Longbottom is resting at Hill and Robinson Funeral Home until Thursday for service in the chapel at 2 p.m. Interment will be in the Soldiers’ Plot in Mount Hope Cemetery.
