Circumstances of Casualty: Killed (Accidentally). Whilst digging a dugout South East of Neuville St. Vaast, his shovel or pick exploded an enemy trench mortar bomb which killed him instantly.

Word has been received by the local Indian Department that Corporal Henry Melvin Newhouse had been accidentally killed at the front; presumably electrocuted. He leaves a wife and three children. He went overseas with a Haldimand Battalion.
