George Gray

The death occurred in St. Michael’s Hospital, Toronto, on Friday of George Gray, member of the staff of the Ontario School for the Blind.  He was in his 62nd year.  The funeral will be held Monday from his late residence, 409 St. Paul Avenue, with interment in the Soldiers’ Plot at Mount Hope Cemetery.  Services will be under auspices of the Brantford Branch of the Canadian Legion.  Mr. Gray came here with his family from England 29 years ago.  He enlisted with the 125th Brant Battalion and since the war had been employed at the Ontario School for the Blind.  He saw active service for three years.  The deceased had also been active in the affairs of the Canadian Legion.  He leaves to mourn his loss his sorrowing widow, one son, Robert Timmins, Ont., and four daughters, Mrs. R. Cameron, Toronto, Mrs. H. Williams, Toronto, Mrs. H. Steele, Brantford, and Mrs. E. Garlent, Brantford.

George Gray

The funeral of George Gray was conducted yesterday from the residence, 409 St. Paul Avenue, to Mount Hope Cemetery, where interment was made in the Soldiers’ Plot.  Rev. A.L. Sanderson, St. Andrew’s United Church, had charge of the services at the home and graveside.  There was a large attendance and a profusion of flowers, testifying to the esteem in which the deceased was held.  The Canadian Legion of which Mr. Gray had been a long time member attended in a body.  The pallbearers, comrades of the Legion, were: James Kerr, David Miller, Thomas Hewitt, Daniel Saunders, Phillip King, Frederick Lacey, Bugler Russell MacKinnon sounded the “Last Post,” at the graveside.
