Lance Corporal Fernie Harper Taylor, of St. George, is amongst the wounded. He is a single man, 19 years of age, and left with a draft from the 2nd Dragoons.

Word was received here this week that Pte. Fernie Taylor, who enlisted with a Calgary battalion, and who is a St. George boy, has been wounded in the arm and forehead.

Fernie Harper Taylor

ST. GEORGE – Fernie H. Taylor died Friday in Hotel Dieu Hospital, Windsor.  Born in Clyde Ont., he was raised in St. George and later went to Windsor where he was an architect.  He was a member of the Chalmers United Church, Windsor.  Surviving are his wife, the former Alice Howell, one son, Howard; two daughters, Joyce and Mrs. George (Leone) Bailey of Windsor; two brothers William D. Taylor of St. George and Earl Taylor of Aldershot.  Mr. Taylor is at the Glaves Funeral Home, St. George.  The funeral will be held Monday at 2 p.m.  Interment will be in the St. George Cemetery.  Rev. A.F. Elliott of the St. George United Church will officiate.
