Grateful for Gift – Nursing Sister Henry, Now Overseas, Acknowledges Gift from Bellview

The Bellview Red Cross Society has received the following letter from Nursing Sister Henry, daughter of Mr. Robert Henry, Mohawk Road. The letter acknowledges receipt of a box from the Bellview society and is as follows:

August 2, 1918
No. 2 Can Gen. Hospital
B.E.F., France

Dear Mrs. Southwood

The autograph quilt arrived today, and although we were anxious to give it to the boys, we thought we would wait for the next convoy, as we have scarcely a Canadian in our wards at the present moment. They are all British, Australians and New Zealanders. In all probability the next convoy will bring a number of Canadians, and I know they will be greatly interested in the quilt, and join me in thanking the ladies of Bellview R.C. Society for their kindness. One needs to be in France to fully appreciate the wonderful work the Canadian Red Cross is doing. I don’t believe you in Canada, realized how much we in France depend upon the results of your work, for many a patient has been made happier and more comfortable, through your efforts, and we all thank you many, many times and assure you of our appreciation.

Very Sincerely,

E.G. Henry
Nursing Sister
