Charles Grant

Charles Grant of 265 Brock Street, died Friday in the Brantford General Hospital in his 86th year.  He was born at Plymouth, England and was a resident of Brantford for 44 years.  He was an employee of the Cockshutt Farm Equipment Limited for 33 years, retiring six years ago.  He was a member of the 21 Year Club there.  During the First World War, he served on the Home Guard in the Niagara district.  He was a member of Telephone City Branch 90 of the Canadian Legion.  Mr. Grant attended the Anglican Church.  Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Sarah Brooks of Plymouth, England, and one niece, Mrs. Ernest (Irene) Getze of Hamilton.  His wife, the former Lydia Parsons, died in 1935.  Mr. Grant is resting at the Hill and Robinson Funeral Home until Monday for service in the chapel at 2 p.m.  Interment will be in the Soldiers’ Plot in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Charles Grant

Rev. R.A.E. Ruch of St. Jude’s Anglican Church officiated at the funeral of Charles Grant, Monday afternoon at the Hill and Robinson Chapel.  Relatives from Hamilton as well as friends from Brantford including a representation from Cockshutt Farm Equipment, the 21 Year Club and the Veterans Association were in attendance.  Many floral tributes were dedicated.  Pallbearers, all Legionnaires, were J. Turner, R. Varey, M. King, J. Hounan, F. Casey and R. Kerr, D. Monkman was in charge of the Legion bearers.  Interment was in the Soldiers’ Plot in Mount Hope.
