STAATS, William R - At his home RR 2 Ohsweken on Saturday, March 28, 1970, William R. Staats, in his 85th year. (Veteran of the First World War, 114th Haldimand Rifles and 107th Battalion in France, then with the 1st Canadian Engineers). Beloved husband of Emilene Silversmith; dear father of Stanley of Toronto, William Jr Los Angeles, California, Perry of Hamilton, Mathew, George and John, all at home, Mrs George (Julie) Karnasky of Niagara Falls, NY, Mrs Thomas (Audrey) Davey, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Mrs Paul (Susan) Dugay, and Mrs Cecil (Eldean) Hill, both of Ohsweken and Monica at home, brother of George, Olcott, NY. Also survived by 32 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. Funeral Service on Monday 2 p.m. at the Grand River United Church, Six Nations Reservation. Interment in adjoining Cemetery. Reverend K Welch officiated.
