Harold Quinlan Passes Suddenly – Paris Resident Died Today at Summer Home on Manitoulin Island
Harold Quinlan, a prominent citizen of Paris, where he owned and operated a men’s clothing store, dropped dead this morning at his summer home on Manitoulin Island, where he and his wife, the former Millicent Verity, of this City, had been holidaying.
A former resident of this City, Mr. Quinlan was employed at the Wiles and Quinlan store from his boyhood days until the outbreak of the First Great War, when he enlisted. On his return to civilian life he was employed for some time by the Hudson Bay Company, Winnipeg, later moving to Hamilton, where he engaged in business for two years. At the time of his marriage to Miss Verity he moved to Paris, where he has been very active in Town affairs. He was Deputy Reeve of the Town Council until two years ago, when ill health force his retirement, and was for some time Chairman of the Board of Health and Chairman of the Retail Merchants’ Association. He was also a member of the Paris Lions Club and of the Board of Governors of the Willett Hospital, Paris.
Mr. Quinlan leaves to mourn his loss, besides his widow, two sisters, Dorothy, and Mrs. E.M. Dwyer (Frances), Hamilton, as well as several cousins in this City. One brother, Reg, was wounded and died in England in this conflict, and another brother, John, who resided out West, predeceased him one year ago.
