BX April 19, 1918

Word was received in the city today that Private William Clare Hopkins, who left with the 125th Battalion, was in a hospital in England, having just come through one operation successfully, but expecting to undergo a second shortly. No indication was given as to the reason for the operation.

BX March 16, 1944

William Clair Hopkins

William Clair (Doc) Hopkins, formerly of this City, passed away in the Westminster Hospital, London, Wednesday afternoon, after a lingering illness.  He was in his 49th year, and served during the First Great War, leaving Brantford with the 125th Battalion.  Born in this City, the youngest son of Edmont and Elizabeth Hopkins, he had been a resident of Walkerton for the past 25 years.  Mr. Hopkins leaves besides his widow, formerly Miss Evelyn Weber, one son, Edmont and four daughters, the Misses Helen, Phyllis, Jean and Donna; all at home, and one sister, Mrs. E.H. Armstrong, City.  Mr. Hopkins is resting at Reid and Brown’s Chapel until Saturday when service takes place in the afternoon.  The interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

William C. (Doc) Hopkins

The funeral of William C. (Doc) Hopkins was held from Reid and Brown’s Chapel, Saturday afternoon, and was largely attended by relatives and friends. The service was conducted by Rev. A.W. Brown of Balfour Street United Church and a profusion of flowers evidenced the sincere sympathy of many friends.  The pallbearers were Claire Hopkins, Frank Hopkins, Alfred Herman, Charles Kelly, Harris Charlton and Frank McDonald.  The interment took place in Greenwood Cemetery.
