William Walter Hockley

The death occurred yesterday of William Walter Hockley, aged 61, who leaves to mourn his loss, a sorrowing wife and five sons.  William Rochester, N.Y., Harry, Stanley, Edward and Harold, Brantford and three daughters, Mrs. A. Keene, Mrs. A. Anderson, and Violet, all of Brantford and seven grandchildren.  The deceased was born in England and came here thirty-years ago.  He was with the 84th Battalion in the Great War, and was transferred to the 20th Battalion in France.  The deceased is resting at Beckett’s Funeral Parlor from which the funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon.  The Canadian Legion will hold the funeral service and the deceased will be buried in the Soldiers’ Plot, Mount Hope Cemetery.

William Walter Hockley

The funeral service was held yesterday afternoon of William Hockley from the Beckett Funeral Home to the Soldiers’ Plot in Mount Hope Cemetery.  Rev. R.W. Lane officiated.  Bugler S. Lowe of the Canadian Legion sounded the Last Post.  The pallbearers were Comrades of the Canadian Legion, Brantford Branch, W. Morrison, E. Griffith, Charles Birkenshaw, P. King, E.R. Edwards and M. Halstead.  There were many beautiful flowers, tokens of sympathy and a large attendance of friends.
