William Lewis Handy
William L. Handy, 68, 150 Charing Cross Street, died today in Brantford General Hospital. He was born in Chatham but spent most of his life in Brantford. He enlisted with the 125th Battalion and served throughout the First Word War in the transport division. He was a member of the Telephone City Branch 90 of the Canadian Legion and the Waterous Ex-Servicemen’s Association. He has made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wells, 150 Charing Cross Street. Survivors include one brother, Lloyd, in Toronto; three sisters, Mrs. Bert White, Toronto, Mrs. Harry Huss, Hickeney, Mich., and Mrs. Garfield Kelly, Kingsville. Mr. Handy is resting at the Beckett Funeral Home where the funeral services with full Legion honors will be held Monday. Interment will be made in the Soldiers’ Plot in Mount Hope Cemetery.

The funeral service for William L. Handy was conducted Monday afternoon at the Beckett Funeral Home. Rev. F.W. Schaffter, of St. Jude’s Anglican Church, officiated. The pallbearers, all members of the Canadian Legion were J. Turner, W. Thompson, J. Lune, J.E. Armstrong, B. Cooper and G. Rickwood. Interment was in the Soldiers’ Plot, Mount Hope Cemetery.
