Mr. Harold Kitchen of Hunt and Colter’s received a telegram yesterday stating that his brother, Pte. Wesley Albert Kitchen died Sunday evening at camp Sherman, Ohio. Death was due to influenza.

Presumably a victim of Spanish influenza, Private Wesley Albert Kitchen, of this city, died at Camp Sherman, Ohio on Sunday, according to word received this morning by his brother, Mr. Harold Kitchen, who is employed by Hunt and Colter. Private Kitchen was a former Brantfordite, who after trying several times to enlist in Canada, finally went to the United States, and was accepted there. Word of his death was sent from the officer in command of the camp. His body will be brought to Brantford for interment.

Yesterday afternoon the body of the late Private Wesley Albert Kitchen was tenderly laid to rest in the family plot in Mount Hope. The Rev. David Alexander, acting pastor of First Baptist Church conducted the services at Beckett’s parlors, and at the grave. The deceased soldier died of pneumonia at Camp Sherman, Ohio. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Albert Kitchen of this city and leaves to mourn his passing two sisters, Miss Bertha and Mrs. Abbott of this city, and two brothers, Mr. Harry and Mr. Clarence, all of Brantford. The deceased was born in Brantford in 1890 and spent all his life here until within a few years ago.
