Circumstances of Casualty: Previously reported Wounded and Missing, now for official purposes presumed to have died. Whilst moving with his Battalion, West of Cherisy, he was very seriously wounded when an enemy shell landed amongst his platoon, causing several casualties. His wounds were dressed immediately, and he was placed on a stretcher, but nothing further has since been heard concerning him.

Mrs. Gerald 305 Dalhousie Street, was officially notified today that her son Pte. Warren Thomas Ireland had been wounded in action and missing since Aug. 30. Further particulars will be forwarded as soon as received.

BX February 10, 1919

Killed in Action 

Word has been received by Mrs. F. Gerald, 305 Dalhousie Street, that her son, Thomas Warren Ireland, has been confirmed as officially reported as killed in action August 30, 1918. Private Ireland went overseas with the 125th Battalion and was later transferred to the 4th Battalion in France. He was moving with his platoon into Cemetery Avenue trench when a shell struck close by. He was the second son of Mrs. Gerald, her husband and older son having served with the Canadian Forces.
