Word was received in the city this morning by Bugler Sergeant-Major Mellor of the Dufferin Rifles, that Lance-Corporal Sydney Rowland of the 91st Highlanders of Hamilton, had been reported wounded at the battle of Ypres. Lance-Corporal Rowland was a former drummer in the bugle band of the Dufferin Rifles being a resident of Brantford. He was employed at that time as a draughtsman by the Waterous Engine Works.
