Sidney Mears

Sidney Mears of 238 Sydenham Street died Tuesday in St. Joseph’s Hospital, London, Ontario, in his 71st year.  He was born in Sittingbourne, England and was a resident of Brantford for 47 years.  He was an employee of Barber Ellis of Canada Limited, retiring about two years ago and was a member of their Quarter Century Club.  A veteran of the First World War, he served overseas with the 125th Battalion.  Mr. Mears was a member of Sydenham Street United Church and a former member of Colborne Street United Church Choir.  Surviving besides his widow the former Vera Young are two sons, Douglas and Donald, both of Brantford; five sisters, Mrs. Edward (Nell) Bingham, Miss Beatrice Mears, Mrs. Harry (Ruth) Isaac, Mrs. Roy (Agnes) Stuart, Mrs. William (Dorothy) McLaren all of Brantford, and three grandsons.  Mr. Mears is resting t the Hill and Robinson Funeral Home until Thursday for service in the chapel and 4 p.m. Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
