Sidney Herbert Kemp

Sidney H. Kemp, well-known veteran of the First Great War, died in the Brantford General Hospital Monday, afternoon.  He resided at 68 Queen Street.  Born in England, he came to Canada early in the century and served throughout the last war in the 4th Battalion Association and the Canadian Legion.  Deceased is resting at the Beckett Funeral Home until Wednesday afternoon, when the funeral service will be held.  Mr. Kemp will be buried with military honors, members of the 4th Battalion Association participating.  Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

The funeral of Sidney H. Kemp was conducted from the Beckett Funeral Home Wednesday afternoon with Rev. John Kelman, Padre of the Brantford Branch of the Canadian Legion, in charge.  Many Legionnaires and members of the 4th Battalion Association of which deceased was a member, were in attendance.  Legion Party was in charge of Ernie Edwards and dropped poppies on the grave in the Soldiers’ Plot at Mount Hope Cemetery.  Bugler F. Norrham sounded the Last Post and Reveille.  The pallbearers were Peter Whelan, William Hall, William Bingham, Percy Hawley, Ernest Coxhead and Cyrus Taylor, all members and of the 4th Battalion Association.
