Mrs. S. Goodwins, 16 Mt. Pleasant Street, has received word that her husband, Gunner Sidney Goodwins was wounded on October 24 last. Gunner Goodwins enlisted with the 54th Battery here. He was a member of Mohawk Lodge, I.O.O.F.

Sidney Goodwin

Sidney Goodwins, formerly of Brantford and Toronto, died Sunday at his summer home of Three Mile Lake in the Muskoka district, in his 75th year.  A son of the late Anthony and Barbara Goodwins, he was born at Norwich and was a resident of Utterson for three years.  He was employed by the Department of Agriculture in Ontario for 27 years prior to his retirement in 1956.  He was a member of the Anglican Church, Erie Masonic Lodge, Port Dover and the Simcoe Chapter of the Royal Arch Masons.  A veteran of the First World War, he served overseas with the 54th Battery, RCA.  Surviving are his widow, the former Annie Elizabeth Stinchcombe, and one son Wray at Utterson; one daughter, Mrs. R.V. (Bessie) Edge of Agincourt; one sister, Mrs. Minnie Bartlett in England, and four grandchildren.  A son Sidney predeceased him in 1918.  Mr. Goodwins is resting at the McCleister Funeral Home, where the service will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m.  Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.  Rev. James Donaldson will officiate.
