Samuel Alfred Reed
The death took place this morning at the Brantford General Hospital of Samuel Alfred Reed, 69 Charing Cross Street. Deceased was widely known as a veteran of the last Great War, having served overseas with the 125th Battalion. He was a member of the Canadian Legion. Besides his widow, he leaves to mourn his loss one son, William Alfred Reed, now serving overseas with an Eastern Canadian artillery unit; one daughter, Mrs. Fred Simmons, Brantford, as well as two brothers and three sisters. Mr. Reed is resting at the Beckett Funeral Home until Wednesday, when service will take place at his late residence, 69 Charing Cross Street. Interment will be in the Soldiers’ Plot at Mount Hope Cemetery.

Samuel Alfred Reed
The funeral of Samuel Alfred Reed was conducted Wednesday afternoon from his late residence, 69 Charing Cross Street, under the auspices of the Brantford Branch of the Canadian Legion. Rev. John Kelman, Padre of the Legion, was in charge of the service, which was attended by an exceptionally large number of relatives and friends. Their presence, as well as the profusion of floral tokens, indicated the esteem in which Mr. Reed was held by all who knew him. Interment was in the Soldiers’ Plot at Mount Hope Cemetery, where “Last Post” was sounded by Corporal J.L. Wadwell. The pallbearers were E.R. Edwards, G.K. Coxe, R. Chatters, K. Kneeler, H. Twidale and J. Hughes.
