BX August 11, 1958

Russell Meikle

Russell J. Meikle, formerly of 71 Gilkison Street, died in Winston Pavilion Sunday in his 71st year. Born at Brantford, he had resided here all his life. He was a veteran of the First World War and member of the Brantford branch of the Canadian Legion. By trade he was a baker and had also worked at the Massey-Ferguson Company Ltd. Surviving are a brother, Daniel Edwards of Hamilton; two sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Wallace of Hamilton and Mrs. Mary Bentley of Buffalo.  Mr. Meikle is resting at the Beckett Funeral Home for service Tuesday at 2 p.m. Interment will be in the Soldiers’ Plot, Mount Hope Cemetery.

Russell Meikle

Rev. Howard Smith, padre of the Brantford branch of the Canadian Legion, conducted the funeral service yesterday at the Beckett Funeral Home for Russell John Meikle, formerly of 71 Gilkison Street.  The floral tributes were many and there was a large gathering of friends and relatives from Brantford and out of town. The pallbearers, all members of the local Canadian Legion were Richard Mock, William Symington, John Longbottom, Robert Varey, Reginald Kerr and Gus Melligan.  Interment was in the Soldiers’ Plot, Mount Hope Cemetery.
