Several Brantford men are reported wounded in a late casualty list today. Private Reginald Grant Raynor, 28 Mount Pleasant Street, who was a toolmaker, went overseas with the first Brant County Battalion. He was single. Private William Howard White was a married man and lived at 53 Charlotte Street and also went overseas with the first Brant County Battalion. Private William Henry Spain was also reported wounded. Private David Charles Dougherty, formerly of 145 Nelson Street, is single and went overseas in September 1915.

Wounded Only

Official word was received today that Private Reginald Grant Raynor, who left here with the 125th, had been wounded only. Previously Ottawa had first reported him wounded and then killed, but on wiring for further information it was shown that the second telegram was in error.

Are Returning

Secretary MacDonald of the Soldiers’ Aid Commission today received word that three Brantford men would return tonight. They are R.G. Raynor, 28 Mt. Pleasant Street; H.E. Duke, 228 Nelson Street, and C. Webb, 9 Elizabeth Street. They will arrive in Toronto today some time and are expected on the Grand Trunk train this evening.

RAYNOR, Reginald Grant – At the Brantford General Hospital on Sunday, April 1, 1984, in his 87th year Reg Raynor, beloved husband of Lilas Raynor; brother of Gordon Raynor of Brantford. Mr. Raynor was a member of the Dufferin Lawn Bowling Club and the Shuffle Board Clubs of Zion United Church.  A family service was held at the McCleister Funeral Home, 30 Brant Avenue on Tuesday, followed by cremation.  Rev. Harry Manning of Balfour United Church officiated.  Flowers gratefully declined.
