Unfit for Trenches
The many friends of Sergeant Lloyd Peter Peirce will be interested to know he has been rejected as physically unfit for the trenches and for the present will retain his position as a pay-sergeant in the Canadian Army Pay Corps, to which he has been attached since December.

Lloyd Peter Peirce
Lloyd P. Peirce of 66 Charlotte Street, died today at the Brantford General Hospital. He was born in Brantford; the son of the late Warwick Peirce and Margaret Harrison, and was a lifelong resident of this city. He was an active and devoted lifelong member of First Baptist Church, and for many years served as superintendent and secretary of the Sunday school. He was a member of Harmony Lodge, I.O.O.F. During the First World War, he served overseas and was pay sergeant for the 125th Battalion. Prior to the war, Mr. Peirce was cashier with the Canadian National Express, and upon returning from overseas was with the Dominion Steel Company. Prior to his retirement, he was with Crown Electric Limited for 35 years and served as director and secretary-treasurer. Surviving besides his widow, the former Etta Dawson, are three daughters, Mrs. Norman (Muriel) Orr of Alder Flats, Alberta, Mrs. T.S. (Mary) Hamilton of Brantford, Mrs. Kenneth W. (Catherine) Franklin of Islington; one son, Raymond W. Peirce of Dorval, Quebec, one sister, Mrs. W.J. (Mary) Frence of Onondaga, Michigan, one brother, Elmer S. Peirce of Hamilton; eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son William in 1938. Mr. Peirce is resting at Thorpe Brothers’ Funeral Home until Wednesday for service at 2 p.m. Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Reverend Cyril Squires of First Baptist Church, conducted the funeral of Lloyd P. Peirce Wednesday afternoon, at Thorpe Brothers’ Funeral Home. He was assisted by Rev. Fred Peirce of Guelph. Numerous relatives and friends from Brantford and outside points, members of First Baptist Church, representatives of the Deacon’s Board, representatives of the directors, management and staff of the Crown Electric Company and members of Harmony Lodge, I.O.O.F., were in attendance. Pallbearers were E. Dixon, L. Stewardson, L. Kemp, G. Gage, A. Foulds and G.W. Waring. Interment was in Mount Hope Cemetery.
