Former Local Man Drowned

Thomas Leonard Foyle

Mrs. R.F. Foster and son Percy have returned from Cobalt after attending the funeral of Tom Foyle, brother of Mrs. Foster, who succumbed to a heart attack while swimming in Bass Lake on Dominion Day.

Mr. Foyle was a good swimmer, and he had apparently started out for the diving board when he was taken with the attack.  His disappearance escaped notice for some time although the beach was thronged and there were many swimmers in the water.

Born in Salisbury, England, Mr. Foyle after serving the South African war came to Canada, settling in Brantford.  During the Great War he was sergeant-major in the 36th Battalion.  He is survived by his widow, one son and four daughters.
