Joseph Henry Hoffman

Joseph Henry Hoffman, husband of Mabel Dobson, 48 Allenby Avenue, died at the Brantford General Hospital this morning, in his 64th year. Mr. Hoffman was born at Wibsey, Yorkshire, England and had been a resident of Brantford since coming to Canada 43 years ago.  During the First World War, he served overseas with the 19th Battalion.  Mr. Hoffman was a member of Brantford Branch 90 Canadian Legion for 20 years.  Prior to his retirement a year ago, Mr. Hoffman had been employed with the Canada Car and Foundry.  Surviving, besides his widow, are: a daughter, Miss Marguerite Caroline Hoffman at home; two sons, William John Brantford and George Frederick at home.  Mr. Hoffman is resting at Thorpe Brothers’ Funeral Home, where the service will be conducted on Friday afternoon. Interment will be in the Soldiers’ Plot, Mount Hope Cemetery.

The funeral of Joseph Hoffman, husband of Mable Dobson, 48 Allenby Avenue, was conducted on Friday afternoon from Thorpe Brothers’ Funeral Home.  Rev. F.W. Schaffter, of St. Jude’s Anglican Church and Padre of the Brantford Branch, Canadian Legion, was in charge.  The pallbearers, all members of the Branch were: D. Monkman, B. Leishman, W. Durrant, W. Prior, J. Lune, J. Turner, H. Kneller, and D. McKellar.  E.R. Edwards was in charge. Interment was in the Soldiers’ Plot, Mount Hope Cemetery.
