Two Brantford Men are Missing – Lance Corporal Joseph H. Harris and Private John David Lynch Named in Casualty List

Two Brantford men, Lance-Corp. Joseph H. Harris and Private John David Lynch, are reported in today’s casualty lists as missing. Lance-Corp. Harris left Brantford with the 36th Battalion, but was transferred later to the 58th Battalion. Word was received in the city on Wednesday that he was missing. Before going overseas he was a sergeant in the 38th “Duffs” and well known as a football player, being a member of the regimental team. His former address was 18 Gordon Street. No details are available of Pte. John D. Lynch.

Mrs. Joseph Harris, 18 Gordon Street, received word today that her husband, who was reported missing since October 8, 1916 is now officially presumed dead, no trace having been found of him since that date. He was formerly employed at Cockshutt’s and Massey-Harris here, but was better known as Captain of the Dufferin Rifles soccer team. He was very popular among a wide circle of friends.
