Jonathan Hayes

Jonathan Hayes Sr., 74, died Monday at his residence, 24 Robertson Street.  He was born in England, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Hayes, coming to Canada about 35 years ago.  He was a member of the Anglican Church.  A painter, he was with Massey-Ferguson Limited, retiring seven years ago.  He was a member of the Brantford Ex-Imperial Club and the Canadian Legion.  During the First World War he served with the 36th and 15th Battalions in the Canadian Army.  Surviving are two sons, Jonathan Jr. and Robert both of Brantford; two daughters, Monica and Mrs. Henry (Marian) MacDonald both of Brantford; a brother, Thomas of England; three sisters, Mrs. Andrew (Susan) Carr of England, Mrs. Roger (Elizabeth) Ritchie of Brantford, Mrs. Robert (Hilda) Wick of Chicago; 10 grandchildren.  His wife, the former Susan Douglas, died last December.  Mr. Hayes is at the Hill and Robinson Funeral Home for service Thursday at 3.30 p.m.  Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.  Rev. C.V. Tomkins will officiate.
