Two Further Local Casualties – Corp. A. Smith and Pte. John Smith Reported Today

With his hearing completely destroyed Corporal Alfred Smith of Brantford is now in a hospital in France according to word received today by Mr. Thomas Grinter of 7 Emilie Street. Corp. Smith left Brantford with a draft from the 2nd Dragoons, but was later attached to the 8th Canadian Mounted Rifles. The report states that he was wounded in France with the result that he has lost his hearing.

Private John Thomas Smith of Brantford is also reported wounded in this morning’s list. Pte. Smith is a married man and formerly resided at 82 Walnut Street. He left for overseas with the 3rd Contingent and previously had nine years experience with the R.A.M.C.
