Mother’s Record Hard to Excel – Husband, Six Sons, One of Whom was Killed, and Four Sons-in-Law in War

With her husband, six sons, one of whom was killed at Ypres, March 15, 1915 and four sons-in-law in the service, Mrs. James Jury of this city probably has a mother’s record in this war which is hard to equal. Mrs. Jury has just received word that her sixth son has joined the army. Her son, James was killed at Ypres, as above mentioned, while the others, whose names are Ware, offspring of her first marriage, are located as follows:  Charles and Fred Ware, West Surreys; James and Albert Ware, Worcesters; Edgar Ware, American Expeditionary Force; William Ware, Royal Air Service reserve. The father of these lads of the Empire served in the 60th Rifles, while their stepfather joined in the 125th Battalion; Sergt. Jack Kemp, 125th, Pte. Wm. Johnstone, London Scottish, Pte. Leo Boret, Americans. Four of the sons of Mrs. Jury saw service in the Boer War.
