Major Hines Passed Away – Former Popular Young Brantford Man Dies of War Disabilities

Many Brantford friends will be sincerely sorry to learn of the death on February 6 of Major Jack Hines, son of Mrs. E. Tipper of this city. Major Hines, who had never recovered from his service in France, passed away at Port of Spain in the Colonial Hospital, Trinidad. His mother, Miss Ada Tipper, and Mr. George Tipper were present. Burial took place at Port of Spain. The late Major Hynes enlisted in the 79th Battalion and served in France with the Highlanders. He went through the Somme battle and came home on furlough. He returned to London, where he acted as D.O.C. of a Forestry unit. He had extensive interests at Brandon in the lumber business. He was at one time a popular Grace Church boy here and was widely known and very popular among a host of friends. He was a 32nd degree member of the A.F. and A.M.
