Given Wrist Watch

A surprise party was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Sheasby, Marguerite Street, when they presented Pte. James Sheasby with a wrist watch as a small token of remembrance before leaving for camp with the 125th. The presentation was made by his niece, Miss Sarah Pilgrim.

James Sheasby

James Sheasby, 76 of 14 Richardson Street, died Saturday in the Brantford General Hospital. He was born in England, a son of the late Charles William Sheasby and Matilda Godfrey Sheasby, and had resided in Brantford since coming to Canada 60 years ago. He was an Anglican.  Prior to retiring 11 years ago, he was employed at A.G. Spalding and Bros. Limited for seven years and was formerly employed at Brantford Coach and Body for 25 years.  He was a veteran of the First World War and served overseas with the 125th Battalion from 1915 until 1918.  Surviving besides his wife the former Louie Teeple, are two sons, Harold Sheasby and Donald Sheasby both of Brantford; five daughters, Mrs. Court (Lillian) Rowley of Detroit, Mich., Mrs. Raymond (Grace) Young of Brantford, Mrs. George (Helen) Ida of Hamilton, Mrs. Clifford (Dorothy) Brooks and Mrs. Ronald (Shirley) Totten both of Brantford; two sisters, Mrs. Alex (Nell) Witherington of Hamilton, Mrs. Jack (Lizzie) Sexton in England; 30 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren.  Mr. Sheasby is at Thorpe Brothers Funeral Home for service Tuesday at 2 p.m.  Interment will be in the Soldiers’ Plot, Mount Hope Cemetery.
