BX August 24, 1953

James Rennie

James Rennie, well-known and highly respected citizen here, died Saturday in the Brantford General Hospital, in his 76th year.  Born in Dundee, Scotland, he had been a resident of Brantford for the past 43 years.  Mr. Rennie was a member of Alexandra Presbyterian Church, Branch 90 Canadian Legion, the Massey Harris Ex-Servicemen’s Association.  He had been employed with the Massey-Harris Company for 21 years, retiring in 1944.  Mr. Rennie served overseas with the 125th Battalion, C.E.F.  Surviving are his widow, the former Barbara Gow; two sons, Robert H., Brantford, and James, at home; two daughters, Mrs. Angus (Jean) Johnson and Mrs. Percy (Catherine) Aitchison, both of Brantford; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Barbara Dow, Brantford.  Mr. Rennie is resting at the Beckett Funeral Home where a service will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m.  Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

James Rennie

Many friends and relatives from the city and out-of-town points, as well as members from the women’s organizations of Alexandra Presbyterian Church, attended the funeral service Tuesday afternoon at the Beckett Funeral Home for James Rennie, 106 Victoria Street.  Rev. J.R. Esler officiated and spoke highly of the deceased’s Christian character and church attendance.  The many present and the profusion of flowers evinced the esteem in which he was held.  The pallbearers were Andrew Dow, Andrew Bradshaw, William Dempster, all nephews of Mr. Rennie.  Angus and Andrew Johnson and Robert Atchison, all grandsons.  Interment was in Mount Hope Cemetery.
