BX March 31, 1949

James Weston Evans

James Weston Evans died suddenly Wednesday evening in his 78th year.  Mr. Evans was born in London, England coming to Brantford 36 years ago.  He enlisted in the 125th Battalion and served in the Frist World War.  He was a member of the Canadian Legion and St. Jude’s Anglican Church.  Surviving are his widow, Winnifred Duke a son, James W., Mimico’ three daughters, Mrs. R.W. (Mary) Tyrrell, London; Mrs. Stanley (Hilda) Marsh, Mrs. Nellie Jacobs, both of Brantford; ten grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.  The deceased is at the Beckett Funeral Home until Saturday afternoon, when the funeral will be conducted.  Interment will be in the Soldiers’ Plot in Mount Hope Cemetery.

BX April 4, 1949

The funeral of James W. Evans was conducted on Saturday afternoon from the Beckett Funeral Home.  Rev. F.W. Schaffter of St. Jude’s Anglican Church was in charge of the service.  Honorary pallbearers were Fred Wilde, Sidney Rabbit and Fred Wright.  Active pallbearers, members of Branch 90 Canadian Legion in charge of D. Monkman were D. McKellar, J. Lune, A. Wright, F. Wright, J. Ridley and E. Flath. Interment was in the Soldiers’ Plot in Mount Hope Cemetery.
