Herbert Douglas Smith Died at Orpington

Private Herbert Douglas Smith died of wounds on Jan. 31 in the hospital at Orpington, Eng. He joined a western battalion at Brandon, Man., and went overseas to France last spring and was wounded about a month ago. He was well-known in Brantford, he having worked as a clerk in the employ of the late William Grant, and was prominent in athletic sports. He then resided at 108 George Street. He is survived by his wife and little daughter of Wawanesa, Manitoba and a sister, Lillian, of Brandon Man., and a brother, W. R.M. Smith of Sparta.
