Henry T. Payn

Henry Thomas Payn, 78, died Friday evening at the Brantford General Hospital.  Mr. Payn was born in London, England, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Thomas Payn and has been a resident of Brantford since coming to Canada 55 years ago.  He was a member of Sydenham United Church, and a member and past president of the Brantford Horticultural Society.  He was a veteran of the First World War, serving with the 125th Battalion for four years.  He was predeceased by his wife, the former Margaret Jane Clague, who died in 1953 and a son William H. Payn on Nov. 29, 1961.  Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Clyde R. (Dorothy) Coffing of Brantford; one sister, Mrs. J. (Lillian) Lewis of High Wycombe, England; one brother, Herbert C. Payn of Eltham, Kent, England; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.  He is at Thorpe Brothers’ Funeral Home, with service Monday at 2 p.m.  Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.  Reverend Norman R. Kelly of Sydenham United Church will officiate.
