Wedding Bells

Payne – White

A very pretty wedding took place on April 7 at noon in St. Alban’s Cathedral, Toronto, when Miss Cora M. White was married to Pte. (Rev.) H. Payne, lately of Preston, Ont., now of the 215th battalion.  The Right Rev. Bishop Sweeney officiated.  The bride was assisted by Miss Gertrude White of Bala, Muskoka.  The bride wore a white silk with veil and orange blossoms and carried a bouquet of pink roses.  After the ceremony the bridal party proceeded to the Walker house for the wedding luncheon.  The groom’s gift to the bride was a string of pearls, to the bridesmaid a gold bar pin, and to the best man a set of gold-filled cuff links.  The bride and groom left on the 4.15 train for Preston, where they remained until Tuesday morning, when Pte. Payne had to report back to his battalion from his last leave and brought his young bride with him.  They are at present the guests of Mrs. A. McMeans of 83 Chatham Street, city.
