BX May 17, 1917

Mrs. Jubber of 13 Kennedy Street, Grandview, received word today that her son, Private George Joseph Jubber, had been wounded in the thigh and hand and had been admitted to the 13th General Hospital at Calais on May 4th. He was in his 21st year, and well liked by all who knew him. He was a member of the young men’s Bible class of Sydenham Methodist Church. He went across with the first overseas battalion of the Dufferin Rifles and drafted to France in November last. His father is with the C.A.M.C. in England.

A letter has been received from Private George Joseph Jubber by his mother saying that the wounds in the hand and thigh were doing nicely, but those received in the neck were giving most trouble, as they kept him from opening his mouth for quite a few days. He was enjoying the comfort of a bed in a hospital in Devonshire, England.

George Jubber

Word has been received here of the death of George Jubber in Pasadena, California, in his 35th year. He had been ill for a period of six weeks. He leaves his sorrowing widow and two sons, aged three and five years. Mr. Jubber will be well remembered in Brantford, and particularly in Grandview, having been to school there and being associated with churches on Terrace Hill. He left the employ of the Slingsby Manufacturing Company eight years ago and took up his residence in California.
