George Theodore Hedden

The death of George Theodore Hedden occurred suddenly Tuesday afternoon at Sunnybrook Hospital, Toronto, in his 77th year. He was the husband of Susan Tackell, 1 Dover Avenue. Mr. Hedden was born in North Cayuga Township, Haldimand County, and had been a resident of Brantford most of his life.  A tinsmith by trade, Mr. Hedden was well known in Eagle Place for many years. During the First World War, he served overseas with the 125th Battalion. Mr. Hedden was a member of Wesley United Church. Surviving, besides his widow, are: four daughters, Mrs. George (Gladys) Sowers, Mrs. Sidney (Vera) Maynard, Brantford; Mrs. Richard (Zella) Nelson, Hartford, Ontario; Mrs. George (Ethel) Cox, Lynden Road; three sons, Howard and Douglas, both of Brantford, Clarence Hedden, Hamilton; three brothers, Angus, Harmon and Seymour, all of Dunnville; four sisters, Miss Annie Hedden and Miss Edith Hedden, both of Dunnville, Miss Jennie Hedden, Toronto and Mrs. Samantha Fry, Cayuga.  Thirty-two grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive.  Mr. Hedden is resting at Thorpe Brothers’ Funeral Home, where the service will be conducted Thursday afternoon.  Interment will be in the Soldiers’ Plot, Mount Hope Cemetery.

Thursday afternoon funeral services for George Theodore Hedden, husband of Susan Tackell, 1 Dover Avenue, were conducted at Thorpe Brothers’ Funeral Home.  Rev. L.R. Ballantyne, minister of Wesley United Church, officiated, assisted by Rev. D.A. Loveday, minister of Central Baptist Church.  Many relatives, friends, members of Wesley church and representatives of the 125th Battalion were present.  The pallbearers were H. Fennell, D. Bloodsworth, M. Sherry, all members of the Wesley Brotherhood, D. Monkman, C. Rickwood and L. Sutton, all members of the Canadian Legion, Brantford.  The Legion party was in charge of D. Monkman. Interment was in the Soldiers’ Plot, Mount Hope Cemetery.
