BX March 23, 1950

George Gaydon

The death of George Gaydon, husband of the former Mary Smith, 14 Huron Street, occurred on Wednesday.  Mr. Gaydon was born in Devonshire, England, and came to Brantford 37 years ago.  In 1915 he enlisted with the 125th Battalion and served in France, where he was transferred to the 60th Battalion.  He was wounded while serving.  Mr. Gaydon, while his health permitted, was an active member of the Canadian Legion.  Surviving besides his widow are two daughter, Mrs. Harold A. (Rosemary) Pettit, Newmarket, and Margaret Kate, at home, four grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Rose Trevisk, and one brother, Jack, both of Devonshire, England.  Mr. Gaydon is resting at the Beckett Funeral Home where the service will be conducted Saturday afternoon.  Interment will be in the Soldiers’ Plot, Mount Hope Cemetery.

George Gaydon

The funeral service for George Gaydon was conducted Saturday afternoon at the Beckett Funeral Home.  Rev. F.W. Schaffter, Legion padre, officiated and Comrade E.R. Edwards accorded Comrade Gaydon, Legion honors.  The pallbearers were Comrades D. Monkman, L. Cronk, J. Turner, S. King, J. Lune and W. Thompson.  Interment was in the Soldiers’ Plot, Mount Hope Cemetery.
