Former Alderman, George P. Fox Dies

George P. Fox, 65 of 33 Sarah Street, died on Sunday in the Brantford General Hospital.

Mr. Fox was born in Enfield, Middlesex, England, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Fox, and came to Brantford in 1911.

He was for a time an alderman serving on the city council in 1948 and 1949.  He was a member of the Brantford Typographical Union, the Brantford Public Library Board, the Brantford Conservative Association, a former member of the Brantford General Hospital Board, a member of St. Jude’s Anglican Church, and of the Royal Canadian Legion.

For the past four years he was administrator of Brantford Housing Limited.

Mr. Fox was for many years was with the Ryan Printing Company, retiring in 1960.

During the First World War he enlisted with the 125th Battalion, and was transferred overseas to the Signal Corp. He was a member of the Second 10th Dragoons (Reserve Army) during the Second World War.

Surviving besides his wife, the former Emily Martin, are a daughter, Mrs. J.G. (Muriel) Robinson of Brantford, and two grandsons.  He was predeceased by a son, Flying Officer Edward (Ted) Fox, who was killed in 1944 while serving with the RCAF.

Mr. Fox is at the Beckett Funeral Home for service Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.  Rev. R.AE. Ruch of St. Jude’s Anglican Church will officiate. Interment will be in Farringdon Burial Ground.
