Active Parisian Called by Death
PARIS, May 29 – The death took place suddenly Saturday evening at 10 o’clock at the Willett Hospital, of Ernest Joseph Leigh Taylor, after a brief illness, in his 59th year.
Mr. Taylor was born in Norwich, England and came to Canada in 1913. He joined the Canadian Army in 1914, serving overseas with the 75th Battalion he returned with the rank of Sergeant-Major. He was an active member of the Canadian Legion and a Past President of the Paris Branch. He sang in the choir of the St. James’ Anglican Church, of which he was a member for 25 years and was deeply interested in all the activities of the Anglican Church. He was a member of the Paris Town Council in 1925. His parents, deceased, were Mr. and Mrs. John Taylor of Norwich, England. Left to mourn him are his widow, Rosa Symons, two sons, John of Paris and Walter, serving with the Canadian Army, and one daughter, Dorothy, also of Paris. The funeral services were conducted today from the St. James’ Anglican Church. A party of the Canadian Legion was in attendance at the funeral with members of the Legion acting as pallbearers. Rev. H.K.L. Charlton conducted the funeral services, Interment was in the Paris Cemetery.
