Ernest Howick Was Drowning Victim – Night watchman Employed for Years by Company

Ernest Howick, 51 Victoria Street, a night watchman at the Crown Electrical Manufacturing Company, where he had been a valued employee for a number of years, was drowned in a water tank at the plant Saturday night.  He was a longtime resident of this city.

Mr. Howick was in his 54th year.  He was a member of the Brantford Branch of the Canadian Legion, B.E.S.L., and also a member of the Men’s Brotherhood of Wesley United Church and as a former member of the Choir of the Church.  He came to Brantford 25 years ago.  Mr. Howick was born in England.  Left to mourn his loss, beside his widow, are a son, F. Howick, at home; a daughter, Mrs. Charles Haynes, this City and brothers and sisters in England.  The funeral will be conducted Tuesday afternoon from Thorpe Brothers Funeral Home to Mount Hope Cemetery, where interment will be made in the Soldiers’ Plot.

The funeral of Ernest Howick was conducted Tuesday afternoon from Thorpe Brothers Funeral Home, with interment in the Soldiers’ Plot in Mount Hope Cemetery.  Rev. E.C. McCullagh of Alexandra Presbyterian Church officiated and was assisted by Rev. H. A. Graham of Wesley United Church.  The pallbearers wee six comrades of the Canadian Legion, Brantford Branch.  J. Hayes, W. Hussey, A. Hicks, C. Webb, E. Edwards and Ernie Stanbridge.  Last Post was sounded at the graveside by Bugler H. Porter.
