Details: In the Attack on Hill 145, Vimy Ridge. He helped to establish telephonic communication with the assaulting Companies when they had reached their objective. Later he passed twice through a heavy enemy barrage to repair the line. He worked unceasingly throughout the entire operation keeping up communication and doing splendid work under most difficult and dangerous conditions.

Received Medal

Mrs. William Lewis was presented with the Military Medal won by her son, Private Edward Hollies Lewis of the 50th Battalion (Calgary). Pte. Edward Lewis won his medal by helping to establish telephone communication wires under heavy fire.

Mrs. Caroline Lewis, 161 Peel Street, has received official word that Private Edward Hollies Lewis, Military Medal, infantry, has been officially reported admitted to No. 6 Casualty Clearing Station, No. 1 wounded and shell gassed. He left with the 50th of Calgary, but was born and raised in Brantford, having gone west when Mr. A. Moffat, Jeweler, moved to the west some five years ago. He was a jeweler’s apprentice to Mr. Moffat at that time.
