Official word has been received by Mrs. Ada Keen, Brantford Township, notifying her that her son, Private Edward Orville Keen had been admitted to a hospital in Rouen, suffering from gunshot wound in the left leg. Private Keen enlisted with the 125th Battalion and went over to France with the 54th Battalion.

Edward Orville Keen

Edward Orville (Ed) Keen of 129 Erie Avenue died Thursday in the Sunnybrook Hospital, Toronto, in his 63rd year.  He was born in Paris and resided in Brantford for 37 years.  He enlisted with the 125th Battalion in the First World War and served overseas with the 125th and with the 54th Battalion.  He was a former member of Branch 90 Canadian Legion.  He was an adherent of the Baptist Church.  Mr. Keen was a former employee of Cockshutt Farm Equipment, as millwright for 10 years, retiring eight years ago.  Surviving are Mrs. Keen, the former Sadie Rowe, and one son Clarence, of city; five daughters, Mrs. Roy (Hilda) Brown, Mrs. Albert (Marjorie) Boulton, Mrs. Walter (Betty) Ornawaka, Mrs. Douglas (Bernice) Garvey and Mrs. Douglas (Dorothy) Gilchrist, all of Brantford; 16 grandchildren.  Mr. Keen is resting at Hill and Robinson Funeral Home until Saturday for service in the chapel at 2 p.m.  Interment will be in the Soldiers’ Plot in Mount Hope Cemetery.  Rev. D.A. Loveday of Central Baptist Church will officiate.
