The death occurred on Thursday night at the Brantford General Hospital, as the result of a heart attack, of Edward Lyman Goold, highly-regarded citizens, whose residence was at 4 Jarvis Street.  Mr. Goold was widely known as a motor car salesman, being a member of the staff of Forbes Brothers.

A native of this city, he was a son of the late Edward L. Goold, prominent industrialist, and Arabella Atkinson.  He was educated here and at Ridley College, St. Catharines, and was a member of Grace Anglican Church.

During the First World War he served as an officer in the Royal Canadian Flying Corps, predecessor of the Royal Canadian Air Force.  Continuing his interest in aviation, he was for some years secretary of the Brant-Norfolk Aero Club.  He was also active in the Canadian militia, attaining the rank of major in “C.” Company, 3rd Canadian Machine Gun Battalion.

Mr. Goold is survived by his widow, the former Mary Karstadt, two sons, Edward Lyman and Charles David, at home and a brother, Charles Atkinson Goold, Peterborough, Ontario.  He is resting at Thorpe Brothers Funeral Home, where the funeral service will be conducted at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon, with interment in Farringdon Burial Ground.
