The funeral of the late Clabren Russell of the 215th Batt., C.E.F., took place Thursday, April 27, from the residence of Mr. Samuel Williams to St. Paul’s Kenyengeh cemetery. A large number of friends, comrades and relatives took this opportunity of paying their last respects to one who made the supreme sacrifice for his country. Being gassed in France led to his untimely end, he being only 21 years of age. Rev. Mr. White officiated both at the house and at the church. The pallbearers were all comrades of his in France and were Fred Williams, Ben. Williams, Wm. Staats, George VanEvery, Wm. Powless and Solomon Lewis. The many beautiful floral tributes including one from his old battalion, the 215th, showed the high esteem in which this young hero was held.
