Charles J. McMillan
Many residents of this area were present Saturday afternoon for the funeral service of Charles J. McMillan, conducted at the Beckett Funeral Home. Rev. H. F. Yardley, Wesley United Church, paid high tribute to the Christian character of Mr. McMillan and to his fortitude during his illness. The large attendance and the profusion of floral pieces attested to the esteem in which Mr. McMillan was held. Members of St. John Ambulance attended in a group and acted as a guard of honor at the funeral home and at the graveside in Mount Hope Cemetery. Others of the same association – C. Gilbert, C. Burger, P. Francis, A. Reeves, A. Fairlie and G. Reeve – were honorary pallbearers. The pallbearers were G.A. Harrison, Charles Calvesbert, James Matthews, Graham Wray, Harold Blundell and G. Harry Richards. Members of Onondaga Lodge, A.F. and A.M. held a Masonic service Friday evening at the funeral home with WM Lyle Richardson in charge, assisted by W. Bros.
