Reported Wounded

Word was received in the city this morning by Mrs. George A. Kirkby of 195 Nelson Street, to the effect that her brother, Pte. Charles Stewart Kirkby had been wounded by shrapnel. Pte. Kirkby is a Brantford boy. He enlisted in Victoria, B.C., with the 48th Battalion. His mother and his sisters live in the city. Pte. Kirkby had been in the West for about five years.

KIRKBY – In Kelowna, B.C. on Sunday, August 24. 1969. Charles Stuart Kirkby in his 84th year. Survived by his wife, Phyllis, a brother William Kirkby of Drumheller, Alberta and a sister Mrs. Emerett (Isabell) Campbell of Brantford, Ontario.  Predeceased by a sister Mrs. George (Mary Jane) Kirkby in 1968.  Cremation following service.
